I finished quilting the Giant Dahlia! I used Heather Ross’s Mendocino fabrics, some lovely natural linen that I don’t recall the source of, and a Quiltsmart Giant Dahlia interfacing kit.
I also managed to get it hung on the wall!
I am now working on the Layer Cake Sampler from Material Girl Quilts QAL for the Atlanta Modern Quilters Guild. It was announced Sunday, and I purchased the necessary layer cake at Tiny Stitches immediately after the meeting.
I chose a layer cake from Bonnie and Camille’s Handmade line for my quilt. I’m pairing it with black background fabric. I’m extremely happy with it so far.
It’s meant to be completed over the whole year of 2107, but that’s not how I think. So I cut 42 10″ squares of black Kona Cotton, marked X’s on the back of the Kona, sewed, cut apart all the half-square triangles, and pressed them all.
I now need to trim them all (thank goodness for my bloc-loc half square triangle ruler!) and put them together into blocks.
I made the first block ahead of trimming them all last night, I’m super excited about how it’s going to turn out.
Isn’t that pretty?!? I can’t wait to see the finished quilt!
